Southampton manager Will Still calls his dismissal believed “ridiculous.”
Most people believe that Will Still will be the next Championship manager fired. But it doesn’t really concern him, and to be honest, it shouldn’t. The Championship League is a challenging league. It’s challenging to escape once you’re in it. This renders the English football pyramid utterly useless at the moment, especially considering that the Premier League is more crowded with talent than ever before.
Southampton can’t gripe too much, though. Although they have expressed a desire to rejoin the Premier League, their performance this season has shown little indication that they would succeed. Southampton has appeared worse for wear despite bringing in Will Still from the French league. Southampton is now ranked 19th in the table with a 1-4-2 record after seven games. It’s simply unacceptable that they desired automatic qualification.
Will Still, the manager of Southampton, is being blamed. He needs to start winning games to support his argument, but he shouldn’t be fired just yet. In any case, Will Still has questioned Sheffield United’s decision-making process. They made a dramatic U-turn by rehiring their former manager, Chris Wilder, and notably let go of Ruben Selles. Some criticism of this decision was inevitable, and Still has fuelled the flames. Nevertheless, he stated: “To be honest, I find it very absurd. Regretfully, such is the current nature of football.
He continued by relating his current situation to the status of managerial sackings. Some supporters are advocating for an early end and not giving Still a genuine opportunity after just seven games. “It’s like our situation, as I know people are questioning it,” he stated in response. It doesn’t, in my opinion, make me a terrible manager or a bad person. Even though I’m not very good with statistics, if you look at all of them, you can see that we’re doing something right; we’re just not hitting it yet, but it takes time.”
In football these days, patience is lacking. These days, managers face both short-term and long-term challenges. Even though Will Still is under pressure to perform right now, it would be completely absurd if he were fired this early. Still concluded by stating: “I believe it has worked well in some clubs where they have been patient and given people some time with that confidence and faith. Isn’t it just the world we live in?
