A player from Burnley requested to miss the international break. wishes to focus on Clarets

Oliver Sonne, who joined Burnley from Silkeborg IF in January, has participated in 10 games and played 573 minutes. The Peruvian international, who was born in Denmark, has been consistently picked for the national squad after relocating to Burnley. Manuel Barreto, Peru’s interim manager, did not include the Burnley player in the team for the games in October, though.
The right-back’s exclusion from La Bicolor’s friendlies against Russia and Chile is explained by La República. According to reports, the 24-year-old requested permission from the Federación Peruana de Fútbol [FPF] to forego this international break so that he could focus on Burnley. The right-back has made five appearances for Burnley this season, including two EFL Cup games. Since the international break in September, he has only played once, in their cup loss to Cardiff City.
In the last four league games, Sonne has been left out by Scott Parker. According to the report, he was hoping to make a comeback against Aston Villa on Sunday after being left off of Peru’s roster. La República also cites an update from journalist Gustavo Peralta, who says Sonne chose to skip the October games following discussions with the Peruvian FA.
