Rangers v Aberdeen: Steven Thompson slams something ‘abysmal’ he saw at Ibrox

As their season draws to a close, Rangers defeated Aberdeen 4-0 at Ibrox in a spectacular match.

Rangers crushed Aberdeen in the second half, and Barry Ferguson won at Ibrox for the first time in eight tries.

Rangers entered the match with nothing more important than pride, but after a lacklustre first forty-five minutes,

they put on a display in the second half.

Rangers crushed Aberdeen in the second half thanks to goals from Vaclav Cerny, Cyriel Dessers, Hamza Igamane,

and Jefte. Former Gers great Steven Thompson had a lot to say about the visitors.

After Igamane scored the third goal, former Rangers striker Thompson, who was providing commentary on the

match on BBC Radio Scotland [11 May], ripped into the Aberdeen defence.

“The finish is absolutely top drawer,” Thompson stated of Igamane.

He receives the ball thrown at him, touches it in midair, and then shoots it from 20 yards out into the bottom corner.

However, Aberdeen’s clearance. This defensive effort in the second half has been terrible.

When Igamane replaced Nedim Bajrami at halftime, he made a significant impact and helped highlight Aberdeen’s

defensive weaknesses in the second half.

Igamane changes the game for Rangers

After an inconspicuous first half performance on the left wing, Bajrami was rightfully replaced by Ferguson at

halftime.

He was replaced by Igamane, who was brilliant, making some incredible passes to his teammates and increasing the

attacking danger with his movement.

With the day’s best finish, the 22-year-old then scored his 12th Scottish Premiership goal of the year, which was set

up by more poor Aberdeen defence.

Rangers supporters will now want to see Igamane play more, especially if it means Bajrami will have less time to

display his incredible finishing skills.

Aberdeen, on the other hand, had won two of their past five games, and they gave up to Rangers’ pressure in the

second half with a disastrous effort.
