What Sheffield United fans were chanting about George Baldock during play-off win vs Bristol City
Sheffield United defeated Bristol City 6-0 on aggregate to secure their spot in the Championship play-off final at
Wembley.
With a 3-0 advantage over the Robins going into this second leg match at Bramall Lane, the Blades knew they were
almost certain to advance to the final.
Kieffer Moore, Gustavo Hamer, and Callum O’Hare all scored goals as Sheffield United defeated Bristol City 3-0, but
Chris Wilder’s team didn’t sit back and enjoy their success.
Harrison Burrows added two more assists to his record, and Sheffield United supporters likened him to Roberto
Carlos. The defence was unbeatable.
George Baldock would have been beaming with pleasure as the Yorkshire team made history in the Championship
play-offs with a two-leg performance.

Sheffield United fans chant about George Baldock during Bristol City win
Supporters worldwide were devastated to learn in October 2024 that former right-back Baldock had been discovered
dead in his home’s swimming pool in Glyfada, southern Athens.
Baldock, who left Sheffield United in the summer of 2024 to play for Panathinaikos in Greece, was only 31 years old
when he passed away.
During his seven years with the Blades, the former Greece international made 219 games, including two Premier
League promotions.
Although Baldock would have undoubtedly been at the game or at least watched from home, it is unfortunate that he
was unable to see Monday night’s victory over Bristol City.
The shout “There’s a star man running down the right, his name is Georgie Baldock and he’s ——- dynamite” was
heartwarmingly echoed by thousands of Sheffield United supporters at Bramall Lane.
The supporters, who loved him while he was at the club, will now be hopeful they can win at Wembley after the home
crowd generated a spine-tingling environment for him.
Sheffield United’s play-off record
There was a huge class difference between United and Bristol City, who finished third in the Championship.
Given that Sheffield United has never won promotion through the play-offs, their efforts over the two games would
have given fans hope that a return to the Premier League is imminent.
The Blades have dropped out of the second division five times, most recently in the 2021–2022 season when they
were defeated by Nottingham Forest in the semifinals.
With Coventry City or Sunderland waiting at Wembley, hopefully they will have moved over their previous setbacks.
