Transfer news for Wolves: Sasa Kalajdzic’s only successful loan period before the October international break

With Vitor Pereira’s team near the bottom of the 2025 Premier League standings, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ current focus is on finding their first victory of the season.
The West Midlands team, though, is also keeping an eye on the development of players who were loaned out during the summer transfer window. Only seven players with first-team aspirations were sent out on loan because Wolves preferred to cash in on some periphery squad members at that time. There is a claim that only Sasa Kalajdzic’s departure has been advantageous, therefore Sports Mole examines the players in question.
Despite playing a part in Wolves’ thrilling EFL Cup victory over West Ham United in August, Kalajdzic was always going to go on loan because of his 18-month absence due to yet another serious knee injury and Wolves’ need to adhere to Premier League squad registration regulations. As a result, LASK Linz, in the 28-year-old’s native Austria, was selected as his campaign destination, and he has since accrued 146 minutes of playing time. Even though Kalajdzic hasn’t scored in his three games, he has played 57 and 60 minutes. He last played for a lengthier period of time in February 2024 while on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.
Despite earning regular minutes at Rangers and Luton Town, respectively, Nasser Djiga and Nigel Lonwijk’s managers, Russell Martin and Matt Bloomfield, were fired in the last 12 hours. Although centre-back Djiga was originally making an impression at Ibrox, the 22-year-old has never really recovered from starting three games in which Rangers gave up 11 goals against Viktoria Plzen and Club Brugge (twice). However, the Burkina Faso international will now work under a new management who might better fit his skills. He has made 12 starts this season, including six in Champions League qualifying.
As Bloomfield makes the most of his versatility, Lonwijk has made three substitute appearances and seven starts for Luton, albeit at three different positions. In addition, the Dutchman hasn’t played since September 20 and is now aiming for a new beginning. If Birmingham City wins promotion to the Championship, they are reportedly required to purchase Tommy Doyle, but Chris Davies has not yet come to rely on the midfield player.
The Blues are currently in 16th place in the table after only four starts and seven substitute appearances across all competitions. On the plus side, Boubacar Traore has already made six starts while on loan at his old team, Metz. However, for a team that is at the bottom of Ligue 1, he has yet to appear on the winning team. Pedro Lima refused to be loaned to Strasbourg, so he turned down Chelsea’s offer to join Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2024.
Instead, the Brazilian right-back has made two starts for Porto ‘B’ in the second division of Portuguese football. Given that Porto is now leading the Primeira Liga with an undefeated record, there doesn’t seem to be much chance of making the first squad. The Jamaican international Dexter Lembikisa is likewise having a difficult time at Lincoln City; he has only made one appearance, in an EFL Trophy victory over Manchester United Under-21s.
