“In a heartbeat”: According to a former EFL player, Frank Lampard would quit Coventry City if Rangers approached him.

The new Championship season has started off wonderfully for Coventry City. They have not lost in their first nine games and are ahead of Middlesbrough in the table. For their own amusement, the Sky Blues have also been scoring goals. They have now scored 27 goals after defeating Sheffield Wednesday 5-0 on the road just before the international break. After severing connections with former MK Dons, Swansea City, and Southampton player Russell Martin earlier this week, Rangers are currently searching for a new manager. They’ll be considering their alternatives.

Lampard would leave Coventry City, according to McCormack, if he had the chance to relocate to Ibrox. “After seeing what he’s like, if you could get one for me, it would be Lampard,” he stated on the Open Goal podcast. Andy Halliday, a midfielder for Motherwell, went on: “He’d be up there.” He has clearly been in the running previously, as it was reportedly between him and (Philippe) Clement (in 2023). However, Coventry is undoubtedly having fun while soaring and scoring goals.

After stints at Derby County, Chelsea, and Everton, Lampard was hired by Coventry City in November 2024. He was chosen to replace Mark Robins, who is currently with Stoke City, another team in the second division. Since then, the 47-year-old has performed admirably at the CBS Arena. His side made it to the playoffs the previous season, but Sunderland, the eventual victors, defeated them in the semi-finals.

Since then, however, they have triumphantly recovered from the disappointment of losing to the Black Cats. Lampard’s team is lethal moving forward and has been on a roll as they aim for promotion to the top division. Before putting up his boots in 2016, Lampard played for teams including West Ham, Chelsea, Manchester City, and New York City. Since then, he has entered the field of management.
