Town boss Lakeland glad to get home draw in FA Cup after Shaymen pitted against Exeter City

Lakeland, the town manager, is happy that his team drew with Exeter City in the FA Cup.

A spot in round two and £45,000 in prize money are up for grabs when Halifax hosts Exeter at The Shay on Saturday, November 1. “We’re happy it’s at home first and foremost,” Lakeland stated.
“You want to stay away from someone in your own league if you get that home match, and then it’s probably one of them. Would you rather play for a big local team like Huddersfield or Bradford City, Stockport County, or a team lower down the pyramid to give you a good chance of moving on to the next round?

“We don’t get either of those things with the draw but it gives us an opportunity to pit our wits and test ourselves against a League One club and it’s a game I’m hoping everyone will look forward to and perform well in.” Later this week, you can read more from the Town manager on our website and in the Halifax Courier on Thursday.
