Throughout his career, Valverde has had two stints with Olympiacos, which is owned by Marinakis. His most recent
one ended in 2012. According to reports, the Greek views him as one of the most exceptional managers he has ever
collaborated with.
It’s unclear if Nuno’s future will be impacted by those emotions. Although Valverde’s contract with Athletic Club is
only set to expire at the end of next month, it is generally anticipated that he will sign an extension after leading the
team to the Europa League semifinals and a top-four La Liga finish.
The 61-year-old Valverde has enjoyed three periods as a manager at Bilbao, where he played for six of his best years.
He started out as an assistant coach for the Athletic Club in 2001, rose to the position of head coach in 2003, took
over for four years in 2013, and then returned in 2022.
Despite the fact that seventh-place Forest will play in Europe next season, their recent collapse has caused them to
fall farther down the table after spending a significant portion of the season in third place.
