The right-back Anfernee Dijksteel’s present contract expires next month, and a new one is not yet anticipated. Boro

wants to boost Luke Ayling’s fitness and form this summer after he underperformed this season, even though he still

has a year left on his contract. Josh Dede, a young player who arrived from Celtic in January, may also get a chance

during preseason.

With a capacity crowd expected to fill the Stadium of Light, Sunderland has revealed their plans for the build-up to a

highly anticipated match. Alex Bangura is expected to return for the start of preseason after missing the entire

season, while Neto Borges is expected to perform well at left-back because he started to play at his best near the end

of the season before suffering an injury. He returned for Coventry City’s season-ending match.
