‘We have got to believe in each other’, says Yeds coach Long
ROUGHYEDS boss Sean Long wants his team to have more belief in their own abilities following a 30-18 loss to Toulouse Olympique, writes Kasey Smith.
Oldham suffered back-to-back home defeats for the first time since returning to Boundary Park in 2023, unable to claw back from a 22-point lead that Toulouse had established in the 57th minute.
After a hard-fought first quarter, full-time side Toulouse scored two tries from kicks, and the Roughyeds were left to rue a missed opportunity by Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e just minutes before half-time, when he chose to run instead of passing to Jacob Douglas, who was in space out wide — a move that would have bolstered Oldham at the break.
Oldham sparked a comeback at the back end of the game, scoring three tries in ten minutes but a hat-trick try from Olly Ashall-Bott in the last minute sealed the game for the French side.
“We have to believe in each other now,” said Long. “We are a good team, and we showed that in large amounts today.
