Burnley had the greatest defence in the second division last season, with the centre-back playing a major role in that extraordinary achievement. Parker praised the 22-year-old for his efforts, referring to him as ‘immense’ in November, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
He said: “I’m delighted for CJ; he’s been fantastic since his arrival, a young guy who has probably not had many opportunities since joining the club, and he deserved his goal tonight.
“He’s been the backbone, a driving force for the back four, back five, custodian and the team in terms of clean sheets and defensive work. “CJ has contributed a lot of quality; he deserved his chance and grabbed it with both hands. I’m genuinely happy for him.”
