Celtic and Rangers are reportedly keeping a close eye on Blackburn Rovers winger Tyrhys Dolan as his contract at Ewood Park comes to an end.
According to Herald Scotland, the 23-year-old forward might move north of the border, with Rovers receiving much less compensation due to cross-border transfer laws, as both Old Firm clubs did with Joe Aribo and Moussa Dembele in the past.
Dolan has been a bright spot for Blackburn since signing from Preston North End in 2020, making 210 league appearances for the Championship club.
With his contract ending, the brilliant attacker has become an appealing prospect for the two Glasgow giants, who might secure his services at a lower cost.
Tyrhys Dolan of Blackburn Rovers is expected to thrive in Scotland, amid interest from Rangers and Celtic.
Dolan’s pace and technical abilities would undoubtedly fit well in the Scottish Premiership, where he might thrive against weaker defensive frameworks than he has faced in the Championship.

Simon Middlehurst, our FLW resident Rovers expert, says a move to Celtic or Rangers might be a fantastic chance for Dolan, with the prospect of playing in Europe being particularly appealing.

“I’ve seen news about that and to be honest I can see him going up there,” Simon told the television station.
“I believe the Scottish league would fit him well, especially since both clubs compete in Europe and are great clubs.
“The opportunity to win trophies, I believe, will persuade him to move up, and I believe that given his quality and performance in the Championship, he has the potential to be a major success in Scottish football.
“To play in Europe will be a great opportunity for him.”
Tyrhys Dolan’s departure from Blackburn Rovers could hinge on European football.
The allure of European football may ultimately influence Dolan’s decision-making process. Celtic finished 21st in the Champions League league phase standings, earning a ticket in the knockout phase play-offs, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich.
Rangers advanced to the Europa League quarterfinals after a thrilling win over Fenerbahçe in the Round of 16, putting up a good European performance despite missing out on the Champions League group stage.

For a talented player wishing to put himself to the test at the highest level, the opportunity to face foreign opponents may be an attractive incentive that English Championship sides cannot match.
Wherever Dolan ends up, his offensive abilities and Championship experience at such a young age suggest he’ll continue to develop and possibly thrive with more opportunities at a higher level.
