“Unfortunately” – Bradford City: Graham Alexander given seal of approval over player exit

Bradford City has received a positive ruling about the club’s choice to let Jamie Walker’s contract expire at the end of the season. The midfielder joined the club in January 2022 on an initial loan from Scottish side Hearts.

The 31-year-old’s impressive performances earned him a permanent move that summer, and he has been at Valley Parade since. Graham Alexander’s decision to switch to a 3-4-3 style earlier this season resulted in stronger performances, but at the expense of Walker’s position in the team.

“The right decision” – Bradford gives mark of approval to Jamie Walker decision.

Boris Thomson, FLW’s resident Bradford City fan pundit, is disappointed to see the Scotsman leave, but understands the club’s choice.

“As much as it pains me to say it, I believe it was ultimately the correct decision to let Jamie Walker go.” He’s been an excellent servant to us over the years.

“He’s made over 120 appearances for us, which is a lot for a guy who had already accomplished so much in his career before joining us.

“But, ultimately, I believe it was the correct decision to let him go. He attained his ultimate aim with us: promotion. So it’s probably time to take the next step in his profession.

“He’s probably not sharp enough to play in League One next season. So, unfortunately, it’s probably best to let him go.

Jamie Walker will go down as a fantastic piece of Bradford City transfer business.

Walker has endured and been a notable performer at Bradford City throughout a tumultuous period in which many players have come and gone.

Hard-working, determined, and always ready to give his all for the shirt.

These are the features that admirers adore. The characteristics that make footballers popular among fans.

Alexander’s decision not to extend the fan favorite’s contract was difficult, but on the surface, it appears to be correct.

As previously said, the manager’s system change has limited Walker’s influence on the club, and as Bradford attempt to improve their side to League One level, the midfielder has been an unlucky casualty.

However, Walker has been one of the Bantams’ most significant players in recent seasons, showing to be excellent value after signing for free in 2022.

Finally, Jamie Walker played an important role in helping Bradford City become a better, more competitive football club, which has now begun its climb back up the Football League.

For that, he will be remembered affectionately by Bantams fans as a familiar face at Valley Parade.
