The decision by Bradford City to allow Jamie Walker’s contract to expire at the end of the current campaign has been deemed successful.
The midfield player initially joined the team on loan from Scottish team Hearts in January 2022. The 31-year-old has stayed at Valley Parade ever since the move was made permanent that summer due to impressive performances.
Although Walker’s position in the team suffered, performances improved when Graham Alexander switched to a 3-4-3 early this season.
“The right decision” – Bradford handed seal of approval over Jamie Walker decision
Boris Thomson, a Bradford City supporter who lives in FLW, is disappointed to see the Scotsman go but eventually accepts the club’s choice.
Even though it hurts to admit it, I believe that letting Jamie Walker go was the right choice in the end. Over the years, he has served us admirably.
He has made more than 120 appearances for us, which is impressive for a player who accomplished as much in his career before joining us.
“But ultimately, I think it was the right decision to let him go. He’s achieved his ultimate goal with us of getting promoted. So, it’s probably time for the next step in his career.
“He probably isn’t sharp enough to play in League One next year. So unfortunately, it’s probably the best decision to let him go.”
Walker has persevered and performed admirably throughout Bradford City’s tumultuous time, which has seen a lot of players come and leave.
Dedicated, hardworking, and always ready to put his best foot forward for the shirt. Fans adore these characteristics. the characteristics that make players appealing to fans.
Although it will have been difficult, Alexander’s decision to not extend the fan favorite’s contract appears to be the right one.
Walker’s impact on the club has significantly diminished as a result of the manager’s system adjustment, as was previously indicated, and the midfielder has been an unfortunate casualty as Bradford attempts to elevate their team to League One caliber.
But since joining the team for free in 2022, Walker has emerged as one of the Bantams’ most valuable players over the last three seasons.
Jamie Walker ultimately contributed significantly to Bradford City’s transformation into a better, more competitive football team that has now started its ascent back up the Football League.
Because of this, he will always be cherished by the Bantams’ supporters and a familiar sight at Valley Parade.
