Birmingham City can show their Premier League ambition by sealing summer swoop for Portsmouth FC player.

Birmingham City had a record-breaking League One season, winning the title with ease, and they hope to celebrate another promotion in 12 months.
Blues’ ambitions are clear: they want to reach the top. Technical director Craig Gardner recently expressed his desire to win multiple Premier League titles and reach the Champions League.
The US owners are serious about their plans, as evidenced by their recent spending spree, upcoming new stadium, and Category One academy.
Birmingham City must prioritise quality this summer.
Birmingham must be strategic in its recruitment efforts this summer, as talk alone is insufficient and money cannot guarantee success.
Given the calibre of Chris Davies’ squad, an overhaul is unnecessary, as many are Championship-ready, but it is clear that the team lacks star power in certain areas.
Arguably, that is in attack, and you would expect a few wide players to be brought in given the manager’s style of play.
Josh Murphy would be a fantastic signing for Birmingham City.
Portsmouth’s Josh Murphy could improve the Blues’ current roster.
Pompey are unlikely to sell their star player, Murphy, who has expressed a desire to remain on the south coast. Furthermore, given Blues’ recent promotion, some may question whether the move is a step up, so he is unlikely to want to leave.
But we all know that money talks, and if Birmingham can pull it off, it will be the type of signing that makes rivals take notice. Birmingham’s project is, after all, extremely ambitious and alluring, and despite their status as a newly promoted second-tier club, they will outbid many divisional rivals for targets this summer.
Murphy scored seven goals and provided 14 assists for Pompey this season, a fantastic return for a team struggling in the bottom third.

Murphy was more than just productive; his pace and direct style made him difficult to stop.
Birmingham would benefit from his physical attributes and ability to stretch opponents in the second tier, adding a threat in the final third.
At 30, some may argue that this is a risky move for the Midlands team. Realistically, they are unlikely to sell him for a profit in the future, and he may only have a year or two left at his peak. There are valid business reasons to question whether Murphy would be a worthwhile investment.
Blues’ ambition necessitates making signings with immediate goals in mind, and Murphy falls into this category.
He would be a huge coup for the club, immediately becoming a key player in Davies’ XI, and the opportunity to move to St. Andrew’s may be appealing as Birmingham look to make it back-to-back promotions.
If there was one major flaw in Davies’ record-breaking team, it was possibly a lack of creative threat from wide areas. The ex-Cardiff City winger, on the other hand, would make up for that with his electric pace and pinpoint crossing ability, which Jay Stansfield could benefit greatly from in 25/26 and possibly beyond.
