“‘He’d Thrive Here’ – Norwich Tipped to Seal Exciting Move for 22-Year-Old Forward”
Norwich City is preparing for a fourth consecutive season in the Championship after finishing 13th.
The team earned 57 points in a season marked by inconsistency under manager Johannes Hoff Thorup, who was eventually dismissed and replaced by interim coach Jack Wilshere for the final stretch.
This season was especially disappointing considering the team’s attacking talent. Borja Sainz scored 18 goals, making him joint second top scorer in the league, while Josh Sargent followed closely with 15 goals.
However, Norwich may struggle offensively next season, as both Sainz and Sargent are heavily linked with transfers away from the club, causing concern among fans about how the team will perform moving forward.
On a more positive note, the club has already started planning for the summer transfer window. They are in talks to re-sign Lewis Dobbin on loan, following his promising but injury-shortened stint with the team.
Dobbin, currently with Aston Villa, had begun to recover from a poor spell at West Brom by getting regular minutes at Norwich—first filling in during Sainz’s suspension, then moving to the right wing when Sainz returned, forming part of the team’s attacking trio.

After making a strong initial impact, Norwich City is eager to give Lewis Dobbin more opportunities under new leadership, as they aim to end their spell outside the Premier League.
Speaking to Football League World, Norwich fan pundit Zeke Downes supported the club’s effort to bring the 22-year-old back, especially if Borja Sainz departs, suggesting Dobbin could take on a more prominent role.
Downes said he’d welcome another season-long loan for Dobbin, noting that before his injury, the winger showed great potential. While his stats in terms of goals and assists were modest, he was actively involved in play and seemed well-suited to the team’s style—making it no surprise that the club wants him back.
With Sainz likely leaving, Downes sees Dobbin as a strong, low-risk replacement. Since a loan deal doesn’t carry the financial burden of a full transfer, it’s a smart move for both the player and the club. He also highlighted the value of bringing back players already familiar with the squad ahead of the new season.
Dobbin’s return could significantly boost Norwich’s attack. Despite the likely loss of Sainz, Dobbin has shown he can fill the gap on the left wing. Compared to his time at West Brom, he now plays with greater confidence and flair—using his dribbling and unpredictability to challenge defenders and pose a serious attacking threat.
