Craig Gordon’s Hearts message after ‘difficult’ season.

Craig Gordon, the Heart of Midlothian custodian, has written an open letter to supporters following what he described as a ‘tough’ season.
Gordon has 46 appearances for Hearts in 2024/25, but has missed the last few weeks due to injury. On Sunday evening, he took to Instagram to commemorate the term: “Another season has come and gone,” he wrote. “It fell well short of expectations. There were a few highlights along the way, including some wonderful results for Scotland against Croatia, Portugal, and Poland, but it wasn’t enough to keep group A status. Winning on penalties in Paisley, gaining 50 Scotland caps while playing for Hearts, becoming Hearts’ most appearance holder in European competition, and making 300 appearances for the club.
“Milestones are fantastic, but my main goal was to succeed on the pitch. This season was difficult in many ways, but as a group, we were not good enough to achieve the success that this club and support base deserve. It’s time to move on from this season, regroup, and return stronger than before. I know this club, and I know what will happen.” The veteran’s current Tynecastle deal ends at the end of the month, but as revealed by Hearts Standard last week, Gordon might yet stay in Gorgie, with talks over an extension underway.
Derek McInnes is due to take charge at the club over the summer. He has already managed his last game with Kilmarnock, and wasn’t in the dugout as Hearts beat them 1-0 on Sunday, thanks to a late Stephen Kingsleystrike.
