Portsmouth defender linked with Reading FC move after release

Portsmouth defender linked with Reading FC move after release.

Reading have been linked with Cohen Bramall, a former Portsmouth and Rotherham United full-back.

The 29-year-old played nearly a century of games for Rotherham United before joining Championship Pompey in January, where he made just 12 appearances.

John Mousinho’s side survived their first season back in the second tier, but Bramall is one of five players who were released at the end of their contracts.

According to The Deck, Reading and Colchester United, the League Two club where Bramall made over 50 appearances five years ago, are interested in signing the free agent.

Noel Hunt’s squad lacks depth at left-back, with 17-year-old Andre Garcia the only contracted player.

Jeriel Dorsett, who frequently plays there, is one of 11 players out of contract who have been offered new contracts.

Tom McIntyre is expected to leave Reading this summer, according to Fratton Park sources.

The 26-year-old Academy graduate made more than 100 appearances for his hometown club before deciding to move to Portsmouth in 2024.

Since then, the former Scotland youth international has struggled to find game time. He is now on loan at Charlton Athletic, but he is still unable to secure a starting spot for the League One play-off winners.

According to the Portsmouth News, Mousinho believes his team is too ‘top heavy’ and plans to move McIntyre if an acceptable offer is made. The versatile defender is still under contract beyond the summer.
