FC Twente and NEC keen on bringing in Antwerp’s former QPR attacker.
FC Twente and NEC have expressed interest in Antwerp’s top scorer. Tjaronn Chery, a former QPR attacker, has been a revelation for the Great Old. Despite approaching 37 years of age, he appears to have plenty left in the tank. With 18 goals this season, the Surinamese international leads the Belgian team. According to Het Nieuwsblad, both Eredivisie sides are interested in bringing him back to the league. However, Chery himself stated that if Antwerp offers him a contract until 2027, he will most likely stay with the club. None of the three teams are guaranteed European football, though Antwerp appears to have the best chance if they can defeat Charleroi over two games.
Chery, despite his age, is having the best season of his career so far. NEC had him on loan in the second half of last season and would like to see him return. Twente’s loss of Sem Steijn this summer means they’ll need to find players who can replace his goals.
