These Kansas City area grocery store chains will close for Memorial Day 2025

Some grocery stores in the Kansas City area will be operating on May 26, 2025, in case you run out of hot dog buns or sunscreen for Memorial Day. On Monday, a number of grocery stores in Overland Park, Olathe, Independence, Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs, and Lenexa will be open on both the Missouri and Kansas sides.

You may take in a patriotic concert by the Kansas City Symphony at Union Station’s Celebration at the Station on Sunday, along with fireworks and veteran tributes, and baseball with even more absurdity at the Savannah Bananas game at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday.

However, the metro’s scheduled holiday events may be hampered by the rain predicted over Memorial Day weekend. On Memorial Day, the following grocery store companies will have varying hours:

Costco is not open. At 6 p.m., Aldi shuts. At 6 p.m., Sam’s Club shuts. On May 26, these Kansas City-area supermarkets will be open as usual.

Verify the store’s precise hours as some sections, such as its pharmacies and delis, may be closed or running on a modified schedule.

The hours for Sun Fresh Markets and Price Chopper differ depending on the location; inquire with your neighborhood shop for specifics.
