Everything you need to know about open-top bus parade to celebrate Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup glory.

An open-top parade will be organised to commemorate Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup victory at Hampden. Aberdeen Football Club will commemorate their spectacular Scottish Cup win with a historic open-top bus procession around the Granite City tomorrow (Sunday). The Dons won the trophy after a thrilling penalty shootout triumph over Celtic at Hampden, and the club is now urging fans to join in the celebrations and commemorate one of the most memorable moments in recent club history. The parade will start at noon at Albyn Place, where thousands of supporters are expected to arrive early to see their heroes board the open-top bus.

From there, the route will take the players and coaching staff past significant city landmarks, giving supporters numerous opportunities to glimpse the cup and cheer on the squad. It will travel down Union Street, turning left at Union Terrace and right at Schoolhill before turning into Broad Street. Aberdeen will then disembark for a civic welcome in the city’s Townhouse.

The council has warned residents and visitors to plan ahead of time as roads in the city centre are expected to be temporarily closed to accommodate the celebrations. Club captain Graeme Shinnie, who raised the trophy at Hampden Park, stated that the club was stunned by the support in Glasgow and was thrilled to share the event with the Aberdeen fans. He went on: “This victory was for everyone associated with the club — the fans, the staff, the city,” as he explained. “We can’t wait to celebrate together.” Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup victory is their first major trophy in nearly a decade, and their first Scottish Cup in 35 years, reigniting optimism in the north-east.

The team’s spirited performance in the final has been widely praised, with manager Jimmy Thelin hailing his squad’s determination and resilience.

Shops are expected to extend their hours

Local businesses are also participating in the festivities, with shops and cafes along the parade route painting their windows in red and white. Many businesses are anticipated to open earlier or stay open later to accommodate the flood of spectators. The club has invited fans to wear red and bring flags and banners to create a sea of colour throughout the city. They have also urged everyone attending to respect public places and follow the instructions of event stewards and police. Tomorrow’s parade promises to be a watershed moment for Aberdeen FC and its supporters, a celebration of football, community, and shared pride in a team that restored greatness to the city.
