Jack Wilshere, an Arsenal legend, took over Norwich City near the end of the season after Johannes Hoff Thorup was let go.

Norwich City has made a strong start to the season under Johannes Hoff Thorup, with forwards Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent performing well.

However, due to a dip in form, Thorup was relieved of his duties in April, leaving his Canaries tenure with a 30 percent win percentage over 47 games.

Jack Wilshere, an Arsenal legend, took temporary charge of the Canaries, resulting in a goalless draw at Middlesbrough and a 4-2 victory over Cardiff City on the final day.

Wilshere will not be the next permanent manager at Norwich City, despite positive feedback from the club’s hierarchy. The 33-year-old coach has now spoken out about his departure.

Jack Wilshere reveals the reason for his Norwich City departure.

According to EFL Analysis, Wilshere’s camp believed he was qualified for the permanent position.

Following Thorup’s departure, the Canaries’ player reaction to Wilshere was overwhelmingly positive.

Under Wilshere’s interim leadership, Norwich secured four points out of six against Boro and the Bluebirds, finishing 13th in the Championship.

However, with Norwich pursuing targets to become Thorup’s permanent successor, Wilshere has broken his silence on the matter and revealed the reason for his exit.

On his Instagram page, Wilshere wrote: “I can confirm that I have today left Norwich City to pursue my own career as a Head Coach.”

“I’d like to thank everyone at Norwich for the opportunity to continue my coaching journey with you all; I’ve developed some relationships that will continue to grow.

“I’d like to thank the incredible Canaries fans for their warm welcome from the moment I joined.

“I’ve loved every minute of my time at the club and I’d like to wish you all the very best for the future. Jack.”

In the wake of Wilshere’s confirmation, Norwich also announced the news with some telling comments from their sporting director, who is “sad” to see the promising manager leave Carrow Road.

Norwich City sporting director is’sad’ to see Jack Wilshere leave.

Wilshere’s next step in his career is unclear, but given his pedigree as a 125-game Arsenal star and growing calibre as a head coach, another Championship club may soon take a chance on the Englishman for next season.

Wilshere’s departure from the Norwich hierarchy has received high praise, with the former England international leaving Carrow Road with a glowing reference.

According to Canaries Sporting Director Ben Knapper, Jack had a significant impact on the team during his tenure. He made great connections with our players and staff, and we’re all sad to see him go.

“We were all grateful for him stepping in as interim head coach for the last two games of the season, but we understand and respect his desire to pursue other opportunities.

“He leaves with our best wishes, and we will closely monitor his progress. I have no doubt that he will have a successful coaching career in the senior game.”
