Burnley have “entered the fray” in the hunt to sign a young midfielder during the summer transfer window, according to a new update on the Clarets’ impending activities.
After securing promotion from the Championship back to the Premier League this season, Scott Parker will understand the need of bringing in top-tier players ahead of the 2025/26 season.
In fact, the Burnley boss has gone into some detail about how he believes the summer window will play out, with the club needing to be savvy in the market:
“We would like to be, of course. We will be looking, and we will be in the market. At the same time, we have an extraordinary squad that has given me and the football club everything. We’ll attempt to be creative and improve where we can, but we won’t really have a clear picture until we know what the market is and where it is for everything.”

The fact that all three promoted sides have returned to the Championship in the last two Premier League seasons illustrates the gap that presently exists between the top flight and the second division, emphasising Burnley’s need for reinforcements.
Burnley enters competition to sign 18-year-old winger.
According to Africa Foot [via Sport Witness], Burnley has “entered the fray” to sign TP Mazembe winger Faveurdi Bongeli this summer.
The 18-year-old is now a wanted man, with Crystal Palace among those identified as potential suitors, and the article claims that conversations have escalated, albeit it does not specify which teams are in contact with him.

Bongeli isn’t yet a household name because he’s a young player and doesn’t play in one of Europe’s top leagues, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be a valuable addition to Burnley.
At the age of 18, the winger has already won three caps for DR Congo’s Under-20s, paving the way for a promising senior international career, and he has four first-team appearances for his current club.
Burnley need to be looking on both long-term purchases and quick additions in the summer, with Parker recognising that he needs certain guys who can go right into his squad as seasoned Premier League footballers.
However, it is critical that the Clarets do not focus just on the present and overlook upcoming prospects, which is where Bongeli may come in.
The adolescent attacker is unlikely to be in the starting lineup on the first day of next season, but he might grow into a top player over time, either through Burnley’s junior system or by going out on loan for a year.
