According to Give Me Sport, Kwame Poku has received a contract offer from Birmingham City, although Sunderland and Sheffield United are also in the running for a deal.

After winning League One handily, Birmingham City is on its way to the Championship. In the third tier, BCFC achieved a record-breaking 111 points, and they intend to keep up that pace.

The Blues have strong financial support and are prepared to spend money once more in an effort to start the Championship at the top of the standings.

But high goals come with fierce competition, and Kwame Poku has been one player who has been consistently on the radar.

Birmingham City’s interest in Poku has been the subject of several rumors, and Give Me Sport has released a new update.

They claim that although Poku has received an offer from BCFC, new competitor interest is starting to surface. Sheffield United and Sunderland, both recently promoted to the Premier League, are interested in the 23-year-old potential.

Celtic and Rangers have expressed interest once more, and Poku’s agent’s international contacts may present exciting prospects outside of the UK as well. As he gets ready to depart Peterborough United when his contract expires, the Ghanaian is eligible for a compensation sum.

Poku has options.
Perhaps it should come as no surprise that Poku has so many clubs pursuing him after a stellar tenure at Peterborough United.

Although Birmingham City is arguably the most frequently mentioned team, Sheffield United and Sunderland might potentially cause problems.

While BCFC and the Blades are in the Championship, the Black Cats can provide Poku with Premier League football. However, Harrison Burrows, a former Posh teammate of Poku, might be useful to the Steel City squad.

Is Barry Fry trying to get a move to Birmingham City?
Barry Fry, the former manager of Birmingham City and director of football at Peterborough United, has stated that he believes Poku would be better off moving to St. Andrew’s this summer.

Although it is unclear if that is still the case given that Sunderland, an admirer, is now moving on to the Premier League, Fry said earlier this month that he believes the Blues will be able to make an offer that other teams can’t match. Fry stated:

Although his agency appears to believe Birmingham won’t be vying for promotion next season, I believe Birmingham will make him an offer that no one else can match.

“The owner is very ambitious, and I’ve met him.”
