Coventry City backed to complete Nottingham Forest transfer – it would be “massive”

Norwich City, a championship competitor, is apparently vying with the Sky Blues for the 29-year-old defender’s services. Both teams have identified the left-back position as one that needs improvement in preparation for the 2025–2026 campaign.

Coventry City urged to not miss the opportunity of signing Harry Toffolo

Chris Deez, a Coventry City fan commentator for FLW, is excited about Toffolo’s possible arrival and sees it as an important move for Frank Lampard’s team as they strive to get past the disappointment of the play-offs.

“I’m really excited by us being linked with Toffolo, massively important that we sort out our left-back situation,” Chris stated to FLW.

“Bidwell is a true fan favorite and cult hero, but he lacks the stamina to play several games a week. He’s a good defender, but he’s not very good going forward. In contrast, Dasilva is great going forward but a bad defender—most of the time. Jay Dasilva has had a fairly good season.

“You don’t pass up bringing in somebody of Toffolo’s calibre, I’ve been a really big fan of his the last few years”

Harry Toffolo’s wage could be an issue amid competition from Norwich City

Although it’s crucial to remember that Toffolo will be receiving £0 per week as of July 1, Chris believes that his current projected salary of £35,000, as reported by Capology, might be a possible roadblock.

Chris made the following suggestion: “I believe we should urge him to accept a little wage reduction; ideally, we could get him down to £20,000 to £25,000. I am aware that Norwich is considering him as well.

“First and foremost, I would want to consider the appeal of playing for Lampard and the fact that we have concluded the previous two seasons with great results.

“I’m not sure what their financial situation is, but I would absolutely love, love, love for him to come here. I’d like to think that going to Wembley, into this season’s play-offs as well, is more appealing than going to Norwich, who are such an odd and inconsistent team. They could probably just about afford to pay him more than us.

“Fingers crossed, he’d be a massive signing.”

Following a difficult time at Forest where he has battled for consistent first-team minutes, Toffolo may be available. Under Nuno, the defender has only made one Premier League appearance this year, in an April 2-1 triumph over Tottenham.

The necessity to replace Manchester City loanee Callum Doyle may be the reason for Norwich City’s interest, but Chris thinks their recent success and the Lampard project might be the decisive elements.
