With a crucial summer window approaching, QPR supporters are anxiously awaiting word on the future of their management role.
Although a change appears certain in the management position, QPR may be in for a summer of upheaval in several areas.
Spanish boss Marti Cifuentes remains on gardening leave with no permanent head coach at the helm. Cifuentes had been linked with moves elsewhere amid reports of a fallout with R’s CEO Christian Nourry.

Although his fate has not yet been confirmed, earlier this month, it was reported that Johannes Hoff Thorup will be hired by the Hoops to replace him. Thorup, who had been freed of his responsibilities by Norwich City just before the season ended, was reportedly in advanced negotiations to be appointed.
After his time at Carrow Road, opinions on the Dane may differ, but Thorup may be a perfect addition as QPR looks to develop young players like Rayan Kolli to their full potential.
After an impressive preseason last summer, supporters of the Algerian prospect Kolli predicted that he would be a true breakthrough star for QPR in the 2024–2025 season. Kolli had previously been in and out of the first squad at Loftus Road.
Opportunities weren’t as plentiful as expected, particularly when he helped out in a start against West Brom on the first day.

Between then and the beginning of December, when he came off the bench and scored twice in a 3-0 victory over Norwich City, Kolli only made three more appearances. Over the following five weeks, he would help the team defeat Oxford United, score in a 2-1 victory over Preston North End, and score the game-winning goal against Plymouth Argyle.
Kolli even contributed a goal and an assist in Leicester City’s 6-2 FA Cup loss. Although he missed a significant portion of the second half of the season due to a hamstring injury, the 20-year-old has shown what he is capable of doing when given consistent playing time going into the 2025–2026 season.
One of Thorup’s strongest qualities
Naturally, it’s still unclear if Thorup will be hired for QPR. But if he does, you have to believe that Kolli will love his appointment.
Throughout his management career, the Dane has demonstrated a willingness to offer top prospects playing time. Thorup can assist the R’s develop some excellent possibilities, like he did at FC Nordsjaelland.
Prospects like Kieran Morgan, Emmerson Sutton, and Daniel Bennie should welcome the opportunity to play under Kolli’s tutelage, in addition to the fact that he might flourish in a consistent first-team position.
A renowned young developer like Thorup might provide Kolli the encouragement and chances he needs to fulfill his potential as a player.
Sheffield United is reviving their pursuit of the QPR star.
