The new manager of one of the teams said to have expressed interest in hiring Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl has been revealed.
A number of teams seeking to hire a new manager this summer have expressed their appreciation for the gifted German coach, which has generated a lot of conjecture in recent weeks, according to German and UK media publications. After a successful season and a half, Röhl’s remarks at the close of the previous campaign indicated that he was wanting to move on from S6, making it apparent that he had already informed the club of his “decision” about his future.

Following their split from Ole Werner, Bundesliga powerhouse Werder Bremen became the most recent team to be linked to the 35-year-old. According to further reports from our partners at BBC Sheffield, Röhl and Werder had held discussions, but the Owls manager’s contract’s compensation clauses had turned out to be “excessive and prohibitive,” according to those familiar with the matter. According to what is known, Wednesday will try to negotiate the highest pay terms possible for a manager who has a contract that runs through 2027.
Horst Steffen has since been appointed by the German team, who played Wednesday in Austria in a two-hour preseason match back in July.

“When Werder first made contact, it was a wonderful recognition of my work,” said 56-year-old Steffen, whose Elversberg team narrowly lost out on promotion to the Bundesliga via the play-offs on Monday after the small, provincial town was defeated by a Heidenheim winner in the 96th minute that kept them in the top division.
“The administration expressed their gratitude to me throughout our conversations and gave me an overview of the club’s plans for the upcoming years. That rapidly persuaded me, and I swiftly decided in Werder’s favor. I am eagerly anticipating the challenge.
