After falling two levels, the seasoned winger has rejoined former Rams manager Paul Warne at Stadium MK.
It could imply that Eustace intends to permanently forgo using conventional wingers in favor of the 3-5-2 lineup that enabled them survive the Championship the previous season.

John Eustace’s willingness to adapt and possible implications the Mendez-Laing deal suggests
John Eustace’s adaptability in choosing his strategies has been a defining feature of his brief but significant stay in the East Midlands thus far.
Eustace has tried a number of formations since replacing Warne in February, including his preferred 4-2-3-1, 4-3-1-2, and—most importantly—a 3-5-2 system that helped Derby stay up by bringing out the best in the players on hand.
This transaction may indicate that Eustace may see the 3-5-2 as his long-term option for Derby’s Championship hopes after all. Eustace’s ability to adapt forced him to abandon his preferred 4-2-3-1 system, which he used at Blackburn.
