Onel Hernandez’s fitness mission after City training claims

Onel Hernandez’s fitness mission after City training claims.

Onel Hernandez is attempting to regain his fitness ahead of his next football challenge, claiming Norwich City’s training sessions last season were insufficiently intense.

The Cuban winger left Carrow Road at the end of the season after making over 200 appearances for the club, including two Championship titles.

Hernandez made five starts and 18 substitute appearances in his final season at City.

As he searches for a new home, he has revealed that he felt training under former manager Johannes Hoff Thorup lacked intensity and required players to complete additional fitness work, leaving him with work to do during the off-season.

In his latest YouTube vlog, Hernandez admitted that his conditioning wasn’t great last season.

“I thought training sessions were too easy. You felt you needed to do extras to maintain your fitness level. There was a lot of ball, but it wasn’t particularly intense.

“I didn’t do as much because I didn’t have a chance of making the team.” Of course, you can come in for 20 minutes and change the game, but this is not always possible.

“On top of that, obviously not good for your condition, so 20 minutes of game time is nothing [compared to] a player who plays every game for 90 minutes.” “We need to work hard to prevent this from happening again. By the time pre-season begins, I will be in the best shape I’ve ever been at 32.”

“Still, no updates on a new team or a new club,” said the reporter. “I’ll probably retire and start running every day here, I don’t know, just kidding.”

“We need to wait. Obviously, the window isn’t open yet, but there are some discussions going on, so you’ll have to wait. Until then, I just try to stay in the best shape I can.
