Ex-England man gives Hull City star Regan Slater transfer advice amid Championship interest

Lee Hendrie, a former forward for Aston Villa, thinks that if Regan Slater leaves the MKM Stadium this summer, he would be a great addition to Stoke City, Hull City’s rivals. Slater has played 183 times for the Tigers since joining City on loan from his childhood team, Sheffield United, during the Tigers’ League One winning season.
The Potters were interested in signing Slater last summer, and in recent weeks, teams from all over the Championship have shown interest in the 25-year-old.Hendrie’s words highlight what a solid Championship performer City have at their disposal, and serve as a caution to the Tigers about letting the midfielder walk on.
“Regan Slater, I know he has obviously been linked with a move to Stoke City,” Hendrie told FLW. “If I’m being completely honest, I’ve always been a fan of Regan Slater, and I believe he has been overlooked a lot in the Championship.
“I’ve always thought of him as one of those guys who can do almost everything when I’ve watched him play in the middle of midfield.
“The (Liam) Rosenior era was probably their best, but they had a lot of young players at the time. I do not think Hull City have been anything close to what they should be in the last few seasons.”
“Do I think Slater would be a good signing for Stoke City? Yes, I do. I think he is a solid Championship player for me, and he always seems to be one of those players that stands out and does the all-round game relatively well in that midfield area, you know – seven or eight out of 10. I think he would be a really good signing for Stoke City.
