One man was arrested after a “serious crash” on a busy Cardiff road. South Wales Police were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision at the intersection of Clifton Street and Newport Road shortly after midday on Saturday, May 3.

Newport Road was partially closed while South Wales Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service dealt with the incident.

One man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and carrying a bladed article in a public place. Investigations are ongoing to locate another man who fled the scene.

According to a spokesman for South Wales Police, a single-vehicle collision occurred at the junction of Clifton Street and Newport Road shortly after midday on Saturday. There were no severe injuries.
