‘A proper club, Genuinely pleased, Great atmosphere, The real derby is back’: Southampton supporters and other rivals congratulate Portsmouth
However, fans of other football teams, notably bitter rivals Southampton, have been eager to offer their congrats.
Naturally, fans of the Saints are excited about the league’s first south-coast derby since David Norris’ historic goal for
St Mary’s in April 2012.
Other Football League supporters, on the other hand, have also sportingly sent their best wishes to a team that
evidently respects the legendary Fratton Park atmosphere during the match.
I imagined they would be demoted, but it was a good farewell day at Pompey. Excellent vibe, proper club. See you in
the upcoming season.
Congratulations to Portsmouth, mission accomplished, I always thought your home form would keep you up. Hope
we won’t be playing you next season but we probably will be. Sunderland fan.
Congratulations Pompey, I’m genuinely pleased you stayed up – Newcastle fan.
Portsmouth? Congrats on survival. And we will now have the Hampshire derby next season. Well done, and now get
ready for next season.
