
A31 crash: Four taken hospital after serious crash.
Four people were taken to the hospital, with one being airlifted, following a “very serious” crash on the A31.
Emergency services rushed to the White Post Junction near Bere Regis after the two-vehicle collision on Tuesday morning,
Police say two people, a man in his 30s from Wareham and a woman in her 60s from Blandford, were taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to the officers, their injuries are “serious but not life-threatening or life-changing”.
According to a fire service spokeswoman, firefighters had to cut one of the cars open to free one person.
The A31 between Bere Regis and Sturminster Marshall was closed for nearly three hours as police officers investigated the accident.
According to a police spokesman, “the road was cleared and road closures were lifted at around 11.40am.”
According to a spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service, “We were called at 8.43am on Tuesday, April 29 to a road traffic collision near Bere Regis.
We dispatched two double-crewed land ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer, and a critical care car to the scene.
“We conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital, and three patients by land ambulance to Dorset County Hospital.”
A spokesman for National Highways confirmed on Tuesday morning that the road would be closed due to a “very serious collision” at the junction with the B3075 near Almer and Winterborne Zelston.
Contractors from National Highways assisted with the road closures, he said.
