Aberdeen defender Mats Knoester signs new four-year deal with the Dons.

January signing has committed to the Dons until 2029. Aberdeen defender Mats Knoester has signed a contract extension that will keep him at Pittodrie until 2029. The Dutch central defender joined the Dons in January on a two-and-a-half-year contract with an option for another year. However, the 26-year-old’s performances for Jimmy Thelin’s side led to him signing a new four-year contract with the Scottish Cup champions. Dons manager Thelin stated: “Mats has been a fantastic addition to our group, both on and off the pitch, since his arrival at the beginning of the year.

“Securing his services for the next four years is an important step for us as we work to develop a competitive team that can compete on all fronts next season. “We’re pleased that Mats sees his long-term future here at Aberdeen.”

Defender has settled quickly in Aberdeen

Knoester has made a strong impression in his first five months at Pittodrie, and it is evident that the Dons have had a similar beneficial impact on the player and his family.
