Adelanto Man Arrested for False Imprisonment and Resisting Arrest.

ADELANTO, CA (VVNG.com) — The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that a 23-year-old Adelanto man was arrested on Sunday evening for allegedly detaining his child’s mother against her will and resisting arrest when deputies arrived. ​

On April 13, 2025, at approximately 6:54 p.m., the incident occurred on the 14500 block of Drysdale Circle in Adelanto.
The adult female victim visited the residence where the suspect, Martayl Lewis, was staying.

“Lewis grabbed the victim’s keys and cell phone and refused to let her go. “She was eventually able to access her cell phone and call 911 for assistance,” said sheriff’s spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez.

Upon arrival, a constable attempted to apprehend Lewis, who refused to obey commands and became combative. Additional deputies arrived on the scene, but Lewis continued to resist arrest. A Taser was used, allowing deputies to take him into custody. ​

Lewis was booked into the High Desert Detention Centre on charges of false imprisonment and resisting or obstructing a peace officer. ​
