In the National League, AFC Bournemouth travels to Plymouth Argyle.
The team led by Helen Bleazard is one of only two teams undefeated in the National League Southern Premier Division.
Despite their great defensive records—both teams having given up just three goals in their first six games—they will face Argyle, the league’s most prolific scoring team. Plymouth’s only loss this season was a 2-0 away loss to Watford, who are now in second position, in their second league game. Since then, however, they have been playing well, losing only once in a 1-1 draw with AFC Wimbledon.
With the help of former Grecian Jenna Markham, league leaders Cherries have only lost once this season, saving a late draw against Exeter City. Plymouth defeated Cheltenham 2-0 away from home last time out, while the Cherries rallied to defeat Lewes 2-1. It will be a difficult test for the Cherries as they try to maintain their winning streak with three points separating the two teams. According to goalie Erin Foley, the team is relishing the pressure that comes with the commotion around their winning streak.
“We are under pressure because of all the talk about how undefeated we are, but we like that pressure and we want to continue that run as long as possible,” Foley told afcb.co.uk. There have been close games, but we have won because we have the winning attitude, even if it means scoring in the ninetieth minute to secure the victory. We’ll never give up on getting the three points. On Sunday, October 12, AFC Bournemouth will visit Home Park; kickoff is at 2:00 PM.
