Aidan Morris Middlesbrough transfer claim with World Cup dream in mind

Aidan Morris already has plenty of potential suitors and a dream to play for the USA in next summer’s World Cup.

Aidan Morris has given Middlesbrough a summer transfer boost by stating that he believes he is in the best environment to achieve his World Cup dream.

Morris has nine caps for the USA and has been nominated to Mauricio Pochettino’s first two USA selections. However, he was hurt in the second half before a game and missed out in March despite being fit again. Now, his emphasis is on getting back into his country’s squad for next month’s friendly.

The coming year is especially critical for Morris since the United States, together with Canada and Mexico, will host the 2026 World Cup next summer. Representing his country at a home World Cup is likely to be a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the Boro star, and he is eager to secure his place.

“I’ve still got work to do to really earn my spot in the squad, but I take that day by day,” Morris said the news conference. “To represent the United States means everything to me. Nine appearances is not enough! I adore it every time and eagerly await more. Certainly, I’ll be there [for the 2026 USA World Cup].

“Having the World Cup in your backyard is something you’ll remember for a long time. Hopefully, this will push change and encourage the future generation. “Seeing the world’s biggest tournament in your backyard is a huge deal.”

Morris has 12 months to impress and prove to Pochettino that he deserves to be on the USA squad. Because of the Qatar tournament’s unique character, it is unclear if nations will be authorised to name 23 or 26 players following the rise in 2022.

Morris would likely be able to force a move to a prominent European league in order to strengthen his international chances, with the combative midfielder already attracting interest before Boro stepped in to sign him last summer. However, in a positive development for Boro, it appears he will not push for such a move, with the 23-year-old believing his World Cup dream can be achieved on Teesside.

He answered, “Certainly. I adore where I’m at right now, and I enjoy the pressure it provides. I enjoy the atmosphere here especially the guys in the dressing room. I am quite happy here. We have such a talented crew; we simply need to bring the pieces together. “It flew by.

It’s been fun. I believe I mentioned it when I first arrived: it’s always been my ambition to come over here and perform. It’s flying by, the fans are terrific, and the mood and culture, well, everything about it has been fantastic.

“I appreciate all of the love I’ve received, and I can hear the people yelling and singing my name. It means a lot. It helps you get through difficult situations because we are not always going to be perfect. But we’ll always give it our all because we see the fans up there every time who are loud.”
