Only a few days have passed since the summer transfer market opened, and some of the names connected to a move to Newcastle have sparked conflicting responses.
There’s a head-scratcher for every player who could make perfect sense. Bryan Mbeumo and Marc Guehi are mentioned one day, followed by Aaron Ramsdale and Noni Madueke the next. However, Jack Grealish, who was out of favor at Manchester City during a pivotal season leading up to the 2026 World Cup, is one name in particular that has caused division among supporters in recent weeks. Our “interest” in the winger has been the subject of conflicting reports; some claim we’re interested in a loan, while others say it’s not feasible. Alan Shearer has now spoken on the rumor.
If Newcastle United were to sign Jack Grealish this summer, Alan Shearer would be “surprised.”
Our former No. 9 was quick to wonder what role Grealish would play on Tyneside in an interview with Betfair, believing that there is no room for the 29-year-old given that Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon are both playing in his best position.
“I believe that coming off the left is Jack’s best position.
He was at his best for Man City at Aston Villa, which is where we saw the best of him,” Shearer remarked.
Newcastle is very strong in that position. I’d be shocked if Newcastle were interested in him because they had Barnes and Gordon for that team.
Should Grealish push for a move?

Newcastle United’s appeal is at its highest level in years, especially since Champions League football will return to St. James’ Park the following season and the team now has a few England hopefuls.
Could a loan move to the North East provide Jack Grealish, who is just under 30 years old and probably consigned to the periphery of Pep Guardiola‘s side behind Jeremy Doku and Omar Marmoush, with a career lifeline? Shearer offered his opinion on Grealish’s future and what he believes the former Premier League record signing ought to do, saying:
“From the outside, it appears that he has no future at man City. Not with Pep present.
“You can either sit there and take your money or you can think, ‘I have enough money, I need to go out and play.’ I know Jack isn’t the kind of person who sits around doing nothing.

” Eddie Howe won’t want players or passengers on exorbitant salaries in his team at such a pivotal point in Newcastle United’s history.
However, Jack Grealish is one of the few Premier League players who can break through a resolute defense, something we have occasionally struggled to achieve.
Therefore, even though the rumor seems extremely unlikely right now, is it worth checking out later?
