Morgan Gibbs-White’s absence at Nottingham Forest‘s preseason opener against Chesterfield has increased rumours that he is moving to Tottenham.
Preseason preparations are already under way for a number of European clubs, including Premier League teams.
It goes without saying that Tottenham Hotspur hasn’t played since losing to Brighton & Hove Albion in their last Premier League game of the 2024–25 campaign.

Morgan Gibbs-White, a Tottenham target, is not included in Nottingham Forest’s squad.
A few Premier League teams, notably Nottingham Forest, a team Spurs are interested in doing business with, have already started preseason games as Tottenham supporters wait to watch their team play this summer.
Morgan Gibbs-White, a Forest player, has a £60 million release clause that Tottenham Hotspur has activated. In fact, a deal was reportedly moving rapidly, with a medical appointment scheduled barely 24 hours after the clause was activated.
But according to reports, Spurs‘ strategy has infuriated Forest’s management, and the north London team is currently facing legal action.
It has now been revealed that Morgan Gibbs-White, 25, will not even be on the bench for Nottingham Forest’s match against Chesterfield this afternoon.
Gibbs-White’s absence feeds rumours about Tottenham.
Spurs reportedly maintain their composure during the Gibbs-White incident because they are certain that their approach to the midfield player was correct.
With seven goals and 10 assists in 34 Premier League games last season, Gibbs-White made an impression at the City Ground. Many Forest supporters have called the 25-year-old irreplaceable as a result of his performance.
It is believed that Gibbs-White is open to joining Tottenham in order to advance and compete in the Champions League.
However, it is unclear if the midfielder’s absence from the preseason friendly team is an indication that he is attempting to pressure a move away from the City Ground.
