An update on Viktor Gyokeres’ fortune is revealed in Coventry City.

According to TalkSport, Coventry City supporters don’t stand to gain financially from Viktor Gyokeres’ departure from Sporting.

This past season was a true season of two halves for Coventry City. Under new manager Frank Lampard, CCFC shot up the standings after an early dismal start that resulted in the firing of club veteran Mark Robins.

Lampard is leading the Sky Blues into next season with a great deal of confidence, despite their season ending tragically when they lost in the playoffs to a header from Dan Ballard in the 120th minute. Many also believed that Coventry would get a substantial summer transfer fee in advance of the possible departure of former star Viktor Gyokeres.

But according to TalkSport, it doesn’t seem to be the case now. According to the newspaper, in order to finance their transfer window last summer, Coventry City really renounced the sell-on clause.

A sell-on provision was included in the agreement for the Sky Blues to sell Gyokeres to Sporting Lisbon in 2023. Although the clause was thought to be roughly 10%, Brighton, from whom CCFC had purchased the Swede, would have received a portion of the proceeds.

Manchester United is reportedly interested in Gyokeres leaving Portugal this summer. According to reports, Sporting is prepared to sell for about £70 million, thus Coventry would have made about £7 million from the deal.

What does Coventry City stand to gain from that?

Since their previous celebrity isn’t making any money, they might need to capitalise on a current one. This summer, a few of CCFC’s players might be able to command a good wage.

Jack Rudoni is often linked to a move this summer, and several teams are interested in signing him. Coventry City is expected to sell him this summer for a reasonable price, according to sources this week.

Other players who could be leaving this summer include Milan van Ewijk and Haji Wright. According to the odds, at least one player will depart the team in order to assist with any incoming transfers.

Worth it for last summer’s spree?

If Coventry City indeed spent the money from the sell-on fee last summer, they did so in a respectable manner. Numerous players were brought in, many of whom had the potential to generate significant profits down the road.

Among those players are the previously mentioned Rudoni, as well as Norman Bassette, Luis Binks, and Oliver Dovin. All four of them athletes are under 23 and have a promising future.

After finishing in fifth place the previous year, it is difficult to dispute with CCFC’s business. They could regret the choice, though, if they are unable to support it the next year.
