Appeal to Help Find Missing Boys from Wakefield

West Yorkshire Police have launched an urgent appeal to the public for help in locating two missing boys from Wakefield. The pair, aged 14 and 15, were last seen on Tuesday afternoon, and concerns for their safety are growing with each passing hour.

According to police, the boys were last spotted near Wakefield city centre around 4:30pm on April 23rd. Since then, there have been no confirmed sightings, and both families have described the disappearance as “completely out of character.” Officers are now treating the case as a priority and have asked members of the public to be vigilant and report any information that might help in locating the teens.

Detective Inspector Sarah Lambert, leading the investigation, said: “We are doing everything we can to find these boys and bring them home safely. They are very young and vulnerable, and we need the public’s help to trace their movements. If you live in or around Wakefield and think you may have seen them—or have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from Tuesday afternoon—we urge you to come forward.”

The missing boys, whose names have not been released for safeguarding reasons, are both students at a local secondary school. Descriptions provided by police state that one of the boys is white, 5ft 6in tall, with short brown hair and was last seen wearing a black hoodie, grey joggers, and black trainers. The second boy is described as mixed-race, 5ft 4in tall, with short curly hair and was wearing a navy blue jacket, blue jeans, and white trainers.

The police have been conducting searches in and around Wakefield and have expanded their efforts into neighbouring areas, including Pontefract and Ossett, based on possible leads. Officers have also been visiting local transportation hubs such as train and bus stations, in case the boys attempted to travel further afield.

Local residents have responded to the appeal with an outpouring of support, sharing the police’s social media posts and organizing small volunteer search groups in local parks and public areas. Wakefield MP Simon Lightwood also issued a statement, saying: “My thoughts are with the families of the missing boys during this deeply distressing time. I urge anyone who has even the slightest bit of information to contact the police immediately.”

Police have reassured the public that all information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and no tip is too small. Anyone with relevant information is asked to call West Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting log number 1079 of April 23, or contact the charity Missing People on 116 000.

As the search continues, the boys’ families have made heartfelt appeals for their safe return, saying: “Please, if you’re reading this, come home. We love you and just want to know you’re safe.”

The community remains on high alert, united in hope that the boys will be found soon and returned safely to their loved ones.
