As the striker arrives and the contract details are completed, Derby County completes their first summer transfer.

Derby County has signed Luton Town’s Carlton Morris, their first summer acquisition.

The Rams paid the Hatters an unknown price for the striker’s services, and he signed a three-year contract with them.

Derby, who have prioritised strengthening their frontline, has had an outstanding start to the window.

Morris finished the transition procedures today, and on July 12, the preseason friendly against Matlock should provide supporters with their first look at the forward.

Morris discussed the relocation, saying: “I’ve heard great things about this huge club. It was kind of a no-brainer when they came in for me.

Particularly with my family, the move is a significant adjustment. You want to know about the neighbourhood and the football team, and I’ve only heard positive things. I am eager to join as I have heard that it is an excellent family club.

Morris, who has scored 39 goals in 137 games, has been an important member of the Luton team. He was a member of the squad that secured the historic promotion to the Premier League before they were relegated to League One in a series of subsequent relegations.

In the 2022–2023 season, he scored 20 goals as the Hatters swept into the top flight. He then scored an impressive 11 goals in the Premier League, but Luton was finally demoted.

Morris only scored eight goals in the Championship the previous season, but Luton had a terrible season overall and fell to League One. The arrival of the Blackburn duo, defender Danny Batth and striker Andi Weimann, is anticipated to be confirmed next week, after the Morris deal.
