Sheffield attempted murder arrest after gun fired at house

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a gun was fired towards a property in Sheffield.

On Tuesday at 18:24 BST, police received reports of a weapon being fired on Cowper Crescent.

Armed officers responded and discovered evidence of firearm use, but no one was injured.

South Yorkshire Police said the 34-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday and is still in custody.

Det Insp Claire Moss stated that gun crime had “no place in our communities”.

“This type of senseless criminality endangers lives; thankfully, no one was injured in this incident, but South Yorkshire residents deserve to live without the threat of violence on their streets.

“I understand that residents will be concerned by this incident, and I would like to reassure them that my team are working at pace to understand the circumstances of the discharge.”

The man was also arrested on suspicion of having a firearm with the intent to endanger life.

A force spokesperson stated that patrols would be visible in the area and encouraged anyone with information to contact police.
