
Birmingham City in talks over Lukas Jutkiewicz’s stay after retirement decision
According to Football Insider, Lukas Jutkiewicz and Birmingham City are in discussions about his
future as a coach or in a recruitment capacity.
Birmingham City’s historic League One title victory has sent them to the Championship. With 111 points, BCFC
finished first in the standings, surpassing Reading’s EFL record of 106 points.
The Blues are aiming for the second division, but they have big plans to reach far higher in the years to come. They
want to break into England’s select few elite teams, and they want to return to the Premier League.
While there has been plenty to celebrate, City bid an emotional farewell to legendary striker Lukas Jutkiewicz this
summer. His contract is coming to a close and the 36-year-old has decided to end his playing days on a high by
hanging up the boots.
But according to Football Insider, he might still remain at Birmingham City.

It is difficult to find a Birmingham City supporter who would not be happy to see Lukas Jutkiewicz continue to play a
new role after hanging up his boots.
Since joining nearly nine years ago, the strong striker has been a beloved figure at St. Andrew’s. Before the move
became permanent in the winter of 2017, he signed a first loan from Burnley, and he hasn’t looked back.
Jutkiewiz contributed 68 goals and 27 assists throughout his incredible 375 games with BCFC. He will be
remembered as a legend at St. Andrew’s for being a talisman and a leader for the Blues during both good and bad
times.
He might be able to contribute more in an off-field capacity, such as the coaching setup or the recruitment staff.
Heading for the top
Everyone is eager to follow Birmingham City as they pursue their goals of being the best in the league. Jutkiewicz
may still have a role to play in their bright future even though he is retired.
The Blues already have a team that is probably capable of contending in the Championship, and they have
aspirations to do so from the beginning.
But BCFC isn’t going to sit back and enjoy their success. This summer will see a lot of hiring, and the team is
anticipated to make some further large expenditures.
