Birmingham City offered ‘very promising’ midfielder tipped to become the next Luka Modric
As Birmingham City gets ready to return to the Championship, the team has undergone some drastic changes,
welcoming a number of new players and bidding farewell to others.
Tommy Doyle has been dubbed the “signing of the summer,” and Kyogo Furuhashi has moved to St. Andrew’s in two
of the more well-known transactions.
Although there has been an emphasis on strengthening other parts of the pitch, such as the defence, with Eiran
Cashin expected to join Blues in the coming days, Jay Stansfield wants the team to surpass their transfer record once
more.
But there has been one significant departure in recent days, as fans say goodbye to Alfie May, who has joined
Huddersfield Town.
Ahead of the forthcoming Championship season, the team has now been given the opportunity to add another new
player.
Birmingham City offered the chance to sign Elan Ricardo
Elan Ricardo, a central midfielder for Turkish powerhouse Besiktas, has been offered to the Blues.
Our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, has informed us that Birmingham City has received an offer to
sign the Colombian from Besiktas. This information is exclusive to EFL Analysis.
After moving from CD La Equidad in Colombia to Besiktas in February of this year, Elan Ricardo has found it
difficult to establish himself in Turkey thus far in his career.
Birmingham City has now received a bid for the 21-year-old midfield player, and the Blues are considering their
options.
What Elan Ricardo could bring to Birmingham City
A 21-year-old Colombian midfielder named Ricardo secured a transfer to Besiktas in February 2025 after his exploits
in the Colombian league attracted interest from several prominent clubs. The youngster chose to join the Turkish
powerhouses.
Ricardo’s skills were praised by CD La Equidad’s head coach, Alexis Garcia, in an interview with Türkiye Today.
“He is strong, and his mid-range and long-range shots are especially impressive,” he remarked. Although he excels in
his job as a central midfielder, he can also play well in more advanced left or right positions.
Garcia compared Ricardo to Luka Modric, highlighting both his physicality and his technical skill in controlling the
game.
“Ricardo has a stronger shot and is more powerful, but he can distribute passes with confidence like Modric,” he
continued. His prospects for the future are bright.
