Birmingham City owners Knighthead complete £40m deal

Birmingham City owners Knighthead complete £40m deal.

Birmingham City owners Knighthead have made significant investments in Birmingham over the last two years, and this trend is expected to continue.

Knighthead, the owners of Birmingham City, have completed the acquisition of a 49% stake in the cricket franchise BirminghamPhoenix.

Knighthead agreed to buy a 49 percent stake in the Phoenix in February, when the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) sold shares in eight of The Hundred’s participating teams.

The Phoenix compete in The Hundred as part of the Warwickshire County Cricket Club, which is based in Edgbaston. On Tuesday (July 15), Wagner, along with Andrew Shannahan and Kyle Kneisly, both of whom are also on the Blues’ board of directors, were listed as Phoenix directors on Companies House, indicating that their £40 million deal was nearing completion.

The three Americans joined Birmingham Phoenix’s board, which also includes Warwickshire chairman Mark McCafferty, chief executive Stuart Cain, strategy director Craig Flindall, and commercial director Adam Lowe. Knighthead has now officially confirmed the deal.

Andrew Shannahan, Managing Member at Knighthead, said, “We’re incredibly proud to deepen our investment in Birmingham by joining The Hundred and supporting Birmingham Phoenix.”

Knighthead is dedicated to creating something truly unique and having an even greater impact on sport and community in this city, and cricket will be an important part of that fabric.”

Kyle Kneisly, Partner at Knighthead, added, “This investment reflects Knighthead’s belief in Birmingham’s future, as well as the power of sport to bring people together, inspire the next generation, and drive meaningful regional growth.

We are excited to support the Phoenix and continue to build a world-class sports ecosystem in Birmingham.

” The Hundred will begin on August 8 – the day the Blues begin their Championship campaign against Ipswich Town – with a double-header featuring the Phoenix’s men and women’s teams taking on the Trent Rockets.

Knighthead’s investment in the Phoenix demonstrates their commitment to Birmingham.

The American investment firm has also invested in the Birmingham Panthers and promised to build a Sports Quarter in the heart of the city.

The Sports Quarter will house the Blues’ football teams, including a 62,000-seat stadium, a 10,000-seat mini stadium, and training facilities.
