Blackburn boss explains decision to drop two senior players

Due to their lack of use as substitutes in recent games, the two Academy graduates were completely left out of the squad. Following illness and injuries, Todd Cantwell, Emmanuel Dennis, and Augustus Kargbo returned to the team.

But Igor Tyjon and Kristi Montgomery were chosen before the two senior players. Adam Forshaw, whose contract expires in two months, has also been preferred in midfield.

Ismael clarified that in addition to performance, the choice was based on the composition of his bench. However, he insisted that no choices had been made regarding the long-term prospects of either player.

Ismael told The Lancashire Telegraph, “Now, when you get all the players back, it’s a normal decision I have to make.”

It’s obvious that some players won’t be pleased with our choice at some point. However, as I have stated, the competition enters the squad when all the players are available.

“To be the first player in the squad and to ensure that they can maintain their spot in the starting eleven, every player must now improve their performance during a training session.

“It is my responsibility to make decisions at some time. I want to make decisions by placing myself in those circumstances. The players were undoubtedly unhappy. But I remarked to them, this is now the new circumstance we have.

“The scenario is favorable. Nice new circumstances. Now everyone must arrive. It’s still a fantastic week for us to train and work. To ensure that the performance is appropriate, they just require that.

As a manager, it’s just what you need. the squad’s competition, where each player gives their all on the field.”

“We need to make some choices. We will appropriately take our time. He went on, “We’ll talk to the guys about their long-term prospects.

“You can tell that the two players, Dennis and Kargbo, wanted to be a part of the process today, so it’s made, for me, easier to make that decision.”

“It doesn’t mean that we took the players out; it’s always when you get your squad, you have the starting eleven. On the bench generally, you have one number six, one center-back, full-backs, and as many of the attacking players as you can get.”

“For the two players who are more defensive players, it’s hard to take. But it’s always for the group and what we need at that time.”

Due to an injury sustained during training, Makhtar Gueye was not present. He was merely excluded as a precaution after being seen at the hospital on Friday.

“He had an injury yesterday. “He suffered some sort of concussion,” Ismael clarified.

“He fell on his head during the training, but it wasn’t a true concussion. He was okay because he got a scan. He was conscious, so it was not a problem.

After all, we didn’t want to take any chances. Therefore, it was the appropriate course of action at that time.
