After being promoted from League One, Pompey and the U’s avoided relegation in their strong first seasons back in the second division.

All four teams are looking forward to transfer business, but the most urgent issue at Hillsborough is the wait for staff salaries. According to reports, the three stated above may try to entice Jamal Lowe to leave Wednesday.

According to EFL Analysis, Oxford United, Portsmouth, and Blackburn Rovers are among the teams interested in a potential summer transfer for versatile attacker Lowe.

Despite declining in the Hillsborough hierarchy over the season, the 30-year-old forward has plenty of choices before a possible departure.

Of the three connected, Lowe is reportedly most intrigued by a reunion with Pompey.

Lowe, a Jamaican international, is under contract for a another 12 months after signing a two-year contract upon landing on Wednesday last summer.

Seeking a new beginning

Although it is difficult to predict exactly what Sheffield Wednesday’s summer will entail due to their continued financial difficulties, a season of upheaval is ahead.

Lowe does appear to be considering a new beginning, though.

Despite playing 958 minutes in his 24 Championship outings, the rumored Blackburn Rovers, Portsmouth, and Oxford United target appeared to be a wise free transfer addition to the Owls.

He contributed three goals and two assists during that time. Lowe scored in an EFL Cup victory over Grimsby Town as well.

Perfect for Rovers from Blackburn?

Blackburn Rovers might not be overly thrilled about Lowe’s signing, considering that he didn’t exactly blow everyone away the previous season.

But Valerien Ismael and company might find the forward to be a very wise addition. Although he typically plays as a striker, Lowe can play a variety of attacking roles.

Though he has also played as an offensive midfielder, he is at ease on either wing. Rovers would be receiving a versatile and seasoned Championship forward in exchange for a cheap pickup.

Over the course of a season, Lowe could contribute a consistent pace of goals and assists if they gave him enough playing time.
