This summer, Boro has made Brittain their primary target in an effort to bolster their defense’s right flank. With only
one year left on his current Rovers deal, the 27-year-old turned down the Lancashire team’s most recent offer of an
extension, reportedly because he is eager to look into a move to Boro.
“Last week, we came to an agreement with Callum,” he told the Lancashire Telegraph. I can tell I like him because he
is really professional. He is a key player for us, and our position is very clear. We’ll be pleased if he remains. He will
go if he must, but only if the club can afford it.
“I believe it’s evident that he still enjoys playing for Blackburn. We are aware of the circumstances; his contract is for
one year. However, we are aware of what he contributes to the tea. He will be pleased to stay if we ask him to. After
then, anything can happen in football, so you never know. However, as of right now, Callum is back on track and
acting like a professional, which is the only change.
The Frenchman goes on to say that they will play hardball and would be pleased to retain him until his contract
expires next summer if necessary: “When the club wants a player to leave, you put him on the side, he trains on his
own and you wait until you get the offer for them to leave. That is not our case.
“We are happy with Callum and if we have to go until the end of the season to risk that he goes for free, we will do it.

our stance. It’s important for him to play and he knows that. He feels the love we give him and as long as he’s a
Blackburn player, he’s my player.
“On this choice, we are all very in agreement. We had an offer on the table if it was about money. With this
arrangement, we are not relying on financial gain. Everyone is aware that Callum is something special to us. We’re
willing to accept the chance of playing through the season.
“You can never predict what might occur if he remains with us. Our offer to extend his contract was compelling. In
football, things may change rapidly.
