Blackburn Rovers hold discussions over potential swoop for 21-year-old winger

In order to assemble the team to the preferences of French manager Valerien Ismael, Blackburn Rovers will have a busy summer transfer window.
The former West Brom and Barnsley chief took over after John Eustace’s leave and after a seven-game wait for a first win, Rovers concluded the season six games unbeaten. They are aware that a busy summer is ahead if they want to qualify for the playoffs the following season.
With many acquisitions desired and a new name now being floated as a Rovers target, departures are likely to make room for future arrivals.
Italian reporter Lorenzo Lepore wrote on X that Vinko Rozic, a 21-year-old winger who plays for NK Istra in Croatia, has admirers, including Blackburn Rovers.
Lepore, who reports for reputable Italian channel TV Dello Sport, adds that clubs across Europe are keen. Sweden’s AIK, Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia and Swiss club FC Zurich have also made enquiries alongside Blackburn, but it is the Championship side whoo have held ‘particularly intense discussions’.
With five goals and an assist in 15 league games since joining Istra in January, Rozic has already made an impression.
Rozic, a rumoured Blackburn Rovers target, spent his early years at the academies of Hadjuk Split and Dinamo Zagreb before succeeding on an initial loan at HSK Posusje in his home country of Bosnia.
The 21-year-old Rozic, a former Croatian youth international who currently plays for Bosnia, where he has two caps at the U21 level, is under contract until 2028, so it might not be the cheapest deal for Rovers to strike.
It is unclear whether anything comes of the interest in Rozic, but a winger will be on the Blackburn Rovers radar this summer.
His performance there earned him a move back to Croatia with NK Istra, where he has played almost exclusively on the left-hand side since his winter transfer.
With Tyrhys Dolan’s contract expiring and Amario Cozier-Duberry’s loan coming to an end, head of football operations Rudy Gestede announced that a right-winger will be sought.
But Rozic’s success has mostly come from playing on the left, where he has played for the most of his career. It might come as a surprise if Rozic is chosen to fill the void on the right for Blackburn, given the presence of Ryan Hedges and Augustus Kargbo among the available players.
